Hazardous collections continue Saturday in SaintLazare and Coteau-du-Lac

L'Etoile - - IN OTHER WORDS -

Now is the time to gather old paints, tires, computers, oil, pesticides and even expired medications.

And the best news is that all such items can be given to people who will make sure they are safely and properly recycled or disposed of during an annual hazardous household waste collection (HHW) being organized by the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC.

This Saturday, September 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saint-Lazare residents can clean up by bringing items to the Community Centre, 1301, rue du Bois in Saint-Lazare.

On the same day Coteau-du-Lac residents can dispose of hazardous items by going to their town’s Municipal Garage, located at 20, chemin de la Rivière-Delisle Nord.

Meanwhile, Vaudreuil-Dorion and Pincourt will also hold their own collection days on October 2.

The Pincourt HHW collection will take place at the Municipal Garage, located at 750, boulevard Olympique, while VaudreuilDorion’s HHW day will also take place October 2 at 325, rue Marie-Curie.

Those bringing items to be disposed of are asked to show proof of where they live.

Other acceptable items for HHW collections include propane, acids, solvents, pool chemicals, computer monitors and towers, laptops, microwave ovens and more. Organizers warn such goods should never be disposed of during regular garbage pickup. Garbage collectors have been injured in the region in the past when unknowingly handling toxic or dangerous substances. Experts say if you are not sure, phone your town or theMRC.

For more information about upcoming HHW collections, contact the VaudreuilSoulanges MRC at 450 455-5753 or reach them by email at info@mrcvs.ca.
