’Best ever’ for
An annual Hudson antiques appraisals event akin to the popular Antiques Road Show television series was a huge hit last weekend.
Greenwood Centre for Living History director AudreyWall said Treasures in the Attic, which took place last Saturday, brought it more than $8000.
‘‘That is our best result ever’’, said a beaming Wall Monday morning, adding the final amount was about $1,000 more than was raised last year.
Treasures is one of Greenwoods primary fundraisers during the year. Proceeds help keep the Hudson living museum and grounds running throughout the year.
And far from resting on their laurels, Greenwood’s army of volunteers is about to kick into high gear for its other important fundraiser, StoryFest.
The literary festival, running from October 3 through November 1, will include appearances by five fictional authors and three poets including: M.G. Vassanji, Nino Ricci, Margaret Trudeau, Claire Holden Rothman andWayne Johnston.
StoryFest will also offer a writers’ workshop, a theatre event and a film.
