Festival des couleurs in bloom this weekend
The 13th annual Festival des couleurs will be on display in all its glory this Thanksgiving weekend in Rigaud.
As in years past organizers promise the festival, being held October 9 and 10, will offer new events and experiences. A longheld tradition for many is a ride up the chair lift at Mont Rigaud ski hill in order to view the changing of the leaves from a higher vantage point.
In addition, the festival will include helicopter rides, a flea market boasting fresh produce, meats, breads, wines and cheeses, among a host of other foods. There will be crafts, airbounce rides and face painting for children, music, a petting zoo and pony and horseback rides during the two days.
Nature and adventure enthusiasts can work off turkey meals with a hike along Rigaud’s famed 25 kilometre walking trail, L’escapade, while others can enjoy tree-top adventures of a different kind at two zipline businesses in Rigaud.
Organizers have also put together an outdoor treasure hunt of sorts that will feature a traditional folkloric Quebec character acting as a guide.
Many organized events are free while others will be offered for a fee.
Most activities will be held in and around Rigaud and shuttle buses will be available both days between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. For information, call 450 451-0869, ext. 270 or go to info@ festivaldescouleurs.com.
