New Saint-Lazare ramp continued headache for drivers
Saint-Lazare and Vaudreuil-Dorion drivers trying to access westbound Highway 40 from chemin Daoust/avenue Bédard will have to put up without highway access until December. In addition, motorists should be ready to see one lane on Hwy. 40 west periodically closed until October 31 so workers can complete a new SaintLazare/Vaudreuil-Dorion exit ramp. The new exit will give drivers a direct connection to chemin Daoust/avenue Bédard and will be marked Saint-Lazare ona highway sign.
Marjolaine Gagné, a Transports Québec communications advisor, said since the new exit will be barely one kilometre from the existing Exit # 26, which currently allows access to route 342 andHudson, the exit will be renumbered asExit #28.
MTQ standards dictate the point farthest west or farthest southmust be chosen as the starting point of the ascending kilometrage, and that each exit must bear a number representing the number of kilometres travelled fromthe highway's beginning.
Meanwhile, workers will continue repairs to the existing Hwy. 40 west on-ramp, located offDaoust/Bédard.
That too is expected to be completed by early December. Once completed, the new exit ramp, #26, will give drivers direct access to Daoust/Bédard fromHwy. 40 west.
With the new ramp, a driver heading west on Highway 40 will have the choice between using (new) exit #28 to Hudson and route 342, or the soon to be completed SaintLazare exit #26 which will lead directly to Daoust/Bédard.
