PETES stu­dents rock du­ringWe Day

Twelve stu­dents from Pierre El­liott Tru­deau Ele­men­ta­ry School in Vau­dreuil-Do­rion were ro­cked by a simple mes­sage while at­ten­dingWe Day at Théâtre St-De­nis last Fri­day.

The kids from grades 4, 5 and 6 lis­te­ned to words of change and hope de­li­ve­red by ac­tress and ac­ti­vist Mia Far­row, for­mer Ca­na­dian as­tro­naut and Vau­dreuilSou­langes po­li­ti­cal can­di­date Marc Gar­neau, Craig and Marc Kiel­bur­ger, co-foun­ders of Free The Chil­dren and in­ter­na­tio­nal chil­dren's rights ac­ti­vists, andMon­treal rock band Simple Plan.

Ca­thy Ro­berts, a grade 4 tea­cher at PETES li­ke­ned the day "going to a rock concert. There was so much hope and ener­gy; you real­ly did feel like any­thing was pos­sible."

We Day was crea­ted by the Free the Chil­dren ef­fort as a way to em­po­wer young people to create po­si­tive change. More than 51,000 stu­dents have at­ten­ded free events acrossCa­na­da.

The PETES stu­dents say they will sup­port Free The Chil­dren's Adopt aVillage pro­gram and will al­so take on the chal­lenge to aid a pro­gram in thei­rown­com­mu­ni­ty.
