Walk to Bethlehem this weekend
The Hudson Community Baptist Church will re-enact the Christmas story as told in the Bible this weekend and next during an event that has become a holiday tradition for families near and far.
The Walk to Bethlehem is an interactive outdoor journey which casts guests as members of a family headed to Bethlehem to be counted and to pay taxes. With shekels tightly clenched in their hands, participants experience the sights and sounds of life as it was over 2,000 years ago. Costumed actors, musicians and live animals complete the enchanting experience.
Organizers say more than one hundred volunteers work months to bring the event to life, while others bake homemade goodies that are offered free along with coffee and hot chocolate at the end of the tour. Guests should dress for the weather as much of the tour takes place outdoors.
Admission is free and donations to help cover costs are accepted. All additional funds collected will be donated to charitable organizations in the community. TheWalk to Bethlehem will be held November 26 and 27, and December 3 and 4. First tours begin at 6:00 p.m. each night with new tours leaving every 10 minutes. The last tour begins at 9:00 p.m. For information, go to www.walk tobethlehem.org or call 450 458-1945.
