NezRouge offering safe rides home
Opération Nez Rouge will start the engine on its 18th season in the VaudreuilSoulanges region this Friday. The service, being offered fromPointe-Fortune to NotreDame-de-l'Île-Perrot and everywhere in between, will run from December 3 to 31. During that time, more than 300 volunteers will be on stand-by to give thosewho've had toomuch to drink a ride home.
As in years past drivers will give rides free of charge though donations that are given to L'Actuel community services are accepted, say organizers.
Meanwhile, some 32,000 Opération Nez Rouge pamphlets will be distributed in PubliSac's over the coming weeks to help people keep dates andphone numbers handy.
In order to offer the safe-ride service each year, Opération Nez Rouge depends on an army of volunteers who do everything, from answering phones, to driving in teams, to wearing the group's distinctive mascot costume while visiting local establishments.
