Two Blocks

Sa­la­ber­ry-de-Val­ley­field will be alive with spor­ting events and fans when the 46th an­nual Que­bec Games de­buts this Fri­day.

The games, for youths un­der the age of 16, will take place from Fe­brua­ry 25 to March 5. Du­ring that time, more than 3,000 young ath­letes from across Que­bec, and ma­ny from Vau­dreuil-Sou­langes, will com­pete in a host of winter and in­door sports.

The first por­tion of the games, run­ning from Fe­brua­ry 26 to March 1, will include the fol­lo­wing sports: wheel­chair basket- ball, cur­ling, fen­cing, gym­nas­tics, wo­men's hockey, syn­chro­ni­zed swim­ming, fi­gure ska­ting, cross coun­try skiing and table ten­nis.

The se­cond half of the games, being held from March 2 through March 5 will include: bad­min­ton, weight lif­ting, handball, men's hockey, ju­do, speed ska­ting, di­ving, rin­guette, and al­pine skiing. Two de­mons­tra­tion sports, bocce and tram­po­line, will al­so be fea­tu­red.

The Que­bec Games will take place at 15 dif­ferent lo­ca­tions across Sa­la­ber­ry-deVal­ley­field, Beau­har­nois and beyond. In ad­di­tion, cross coun­try skiing events will be held in the re­gion at the Base de Plein Air des Cèdres.

Po­pu­lar sites for events in Sa­la­ber­ry-deVal­ley­field include Col­lège de Val­ley­field, the Sa­la­ber­ry Are­na, the Ci­vic Centre Are­na and école de la Baie-Saint-François.
