Students lead by example
Teenagers fromWestwood Sr. High School in Hudson recently hosted a one day leadership conference, Make It Happen Day, for elementary students.
During the day, theWestwood Literacy Project, established to increase the reach ofWestwood's Bridge to Burundi Project, was celebrated. The project saw 28Westwood students teach the book Three Cups of Tea and the Bridge to Burundi story to 270 grade 6 students from local elementary schools. The aim was to foster a love of reading while inspiring younger students to learn more about global initiatives.
The high school students also wanted to demonstrate that actions can have a positive impact on the world.
Make It Happen Day also included presentations by several notable speakers.
Make It Happen Day at Westwood Sr. High was a hit for 270 grade 6 students from the region.
