Stu­dents lead by example

Tee­na­gers fromWest­wood Sr. High School in Hud­son re­cent­ly hos­ted a one day lea­der­ship con­fe­rence, Make It Hap­pen Day, for ele­men­ta­ry stu­dents.

Du­ring the day, theWest­wood Li­te­ra­cy Pro­ject, es­ta­bli­shed to in­crease the reach ofWest­wood's Bridge to Bu­run­di Pro­ject, was ce­le­bra­ted. The pro­ject saw 28West­wood stu­dents teach the book Th­ree Cups of Tea and the Bridge to Bu­run­di sto­ry to 270 grade 6 stu­dents from lo­cal ele­men­ta­ry schools. The aim was to fos­ter a love of rea­ding while ins­pi­ring youn­ger stu­dents to learn more about glo­bal ini­tia­tives.

The high school stu­dents al­so wanted to de­mons­trate that ac­tions can have a po­si­tive im­pact on the world.

Make It Hap­pen Day al­so in­clu­ded pre­sen­ta­tions by se­ve­ral no­table spea­kers.


Make It Hap­pen Day at West­wood Sr. High was a hit for 270 grade 6 stu­dents from the re­gion.
