Free sewing lessons for teens on again in Hudson
Asecond session of free sewing lessons for teenagers will get underway next week in Hudson at St. Mary’s Church Hall. The five week series, beginning Feb. 1 and running consecutively each week, is being offered by the St. Mary’s Church Hall Sewing Circle, which has existed since 1908.
Member Wanda Smith said the group wants to pass its skills onto a newgeneration.
Smith notes the loss of home economics courses in schools mean many youths are unable to do such simple things as sew a button onto a garment, or repair a hem.
As many as 20 students can learn through the classes how to thread a needle, use a sewing machine, stitch a hem, sew a button and more.
The free St. Mary’s Church sewing lessons will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m, from Feb. 1 to Feb. 29, at the St. Mary’s Church Hall, 261, rue Main in Hudson. Materials and sewing machines will be provided. Call St. Mary’s at 450 458-5897, or Wanda Smith at 450 458-0481.
