Saint-lazare author hosts book signing Saturday
Blazing new path for author
Saint-lazare author Merwie Garzon will be meeting and speaking with readers at the Saint-lazare library Saturday when she hosts a book signing for her debut novel, Blaze of Glory, (Virtualbookworm.com Publishing Inc., 2011).
Garzon’s book generated buzz in the world of television and film when it caught the attention of not one but two film producers. One has since secured the film and TV rights to the book and speculates a TV series could even be filmed in Saint-lazare. Meanwhile, a recent online review in USA Today recommends Blaze of Glory. The publication said Garzon 'manages to create a tasteful and sensual intimacy between the two characters without resorting to graphic description, keeping the story age appropriate.'
Garzon, a single mother whose day job includes consulting work, wrote the book three years ago while her children napped, at night and in her head while driving in the car.
Blaze of Glory tells the story of 17-year-old Tea, who runs an equestrian centre in southern Ontario with her twin brother and step-father. Tea’s mother died three years earlier. Tea soon finds herself fighting blossoming feelings for a young man who is a cousin by marriage since both know the relationship would not be accepted in their family.
Garzon will host a book signing for Blaze of Glory from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Feb. 18 at the Saint-lazare Library, located at 1275, rue du Bois. Copies of the book will be available for purchase ($15) during the signing, while it can also be purchased at Crazy Carousel Tack Shop and Sandridge Saddlery in Hudson, as well as on-line through most major retailers including Chapters and Amazon.
