School board workshop helps parents help students
The Lester B. Pearson School Board's Central Parents Committee will host a free one-day workshop this weekend aimed at helping parents steer their kids toward success in school. The event, Raising Awareness for Student Success: The Parent's Role, will be held Saturday March 31, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Organizers advise parents to "take one day and learn ways to make your child a successful student." According to research provided by the CPC, children do best in school when parents and teachers work closely together. The event will allow participants to chose between more than 20 workshops offered by LBPSB educators, as well as professionals from educational institutions such as LEARN Quebec, Amcal Family Services, and more. Parents will also network with other parents, and visit several educational displays.
The free conference will take place at the Pearson Electrotechnology Centre, 5000, rue René-huguet, in Lachine. Registration and light refreshments will get underway at 8:30 a.m. The first workshop will start at 9:15 a.m.
