Walk to aid Palliative Care home warming up
Early response good
A first annual walk to benefit the Palliative Care Residence in Hudson may only be taking place in May, but participants are already lacing up and registering to help make a difference.
The Vaudreuil-soulanges Palliative Care Residence is inviting people to join the inaugural event: I walk for the Vaudreuil-soulanges Palliative Care Residence. The fundraiser will take place in Hudson on May 6.
A team of doctors including Dr's Sylvie Dufresne, Andreea Iancu, Aïda Pop, Chantal Anctil and Helena Neamt, and VSPCR Health Care Director Lucie Guimond will share honorary president's duties.
Others from the home expected to walk include nurses, nursing assistants, orderlies and patient care volunteers.
Teams of two or more will need to collect $1,000 in order to participate in the 6 km walk that will start at the Stephen F. Shaar Community Center in Hudson. A familystyle picnic and activities at Thompson Park will follow. Organizers hope to get as many as 300 walkers to participate in the first annual fundraiser, which they say is "an absolute necessity."
Funds will help the home continue to offer end-of-life care free of charge to patients and their families.
