Saint-lazare resident cards off to good start
Thousands of Saint-lazare residents have already been issued free resident identification cards under a program the town unveiled last month. The new cards that have replaced library cards are mandatory for anyone living in the town that wants to register for or participate in sports, recreational or cultural activities. The town says the cards will simplify the registration process for all municipal activities.
And dozens of residents seemed to agree during a registration campaign that took place two weeks ago. Nancy Anne Hope, who has lived in Saint-lazare for the past 20 years, thinks the cards will “make it easier” to sign upfor townactivities.
The cards, that will be good for a period of five years, feature a white background, a photo of the card holder and a larger photograph of a wooded area of Saint-lazare that was taken by local photographer Peter Zeeman.
Those who have not yet obtained the new card can do so at the town’s recreation department, or library, both located at 1301, rue du Bois. Proof of residence including a driver’s license, municipal or school tax bill, a Hydro or telephone bill is required, as is a form of identification that could include a passport, student ID card, health insurance card or driver’s license. Photos of card holders are taken during registration. For information, call 450 424-8000, ext. 220.
