Town launches garbage reducing video challenge
Saint-Lazare residents are being asked to star in their own video production detailing the best ways to reduce household waste.
And winners can earn some nice prizes in the process.
The municipality launched the contest, On Our Way to One Bin, earlier this month as part of a provincial waste reduction week. The Town feels the contest is an innovative way to inform residents about garbage reduction and the transition to a one-bin garbage pickup on Jan. 1.
Helping launch the contest on Oct. 9 were Soulanges MNA Lucie Charlebois, and Saint-Lazare Mayor Robert Grimaudo. Both encourage people to make easy lifestyle changes such as recycling more, composting and reusing items around the home.
Those interested are asked to produce a two-minute video detailing ways to cut back on garbage destined for landfills. A People’s Choice Award of a $3,000 travel credit is up for grabs along with a $500 voucher for Pharmaprix Saint-Lazare, and a $200 voucher at the store of your choice. There are also Jury Awards of six lift tickets to Mont Rigaud ski hill, two annual VIP passes at Chez Maurice, and more. Videos must be uploaded to the Town’s website by Nov. 16, while people will be asked to vote on the Saint-Lazare Facebook page from Nov. 23 to Dec. 3. An award ceremony will be held on Dec. 12.
