Operation Nez Rouge ready for festive season
Volunteer drivers needed
For the 29th year in a row, Operation Nez Rouge will do its part to make sure people do not drink and drive this holiday season.
From November 30th to December 31st, 2012, red vest clad volunteers will offer to do the driving for party goers who want to imbibe some holiday spirits. The theme of this year’s effort is titled: Let Rudy Take the Wheel. Nez Rouge says its goal is to provide Canadians who feel unfit to drive with a safe alternative to get back home. The effort will take place in 110 communities across Canada, including Vaudreuil-Dorion, where the Nez Rouge headquarters will be set up at the L’Actuel volunteer centre.
And Nez Rouge organizers are always looking for volunteers willing to give their time, whether for a few hours or several evenings. The group says volunteers make a significant contribution to help improve road safety in the community while supporting youth and amateur sports. Volunteers must fill out an application form and undergo a screening process. Volunteer drivers work in teams. To fill out a volunteer form, go to the Nez Rouge website at http://operationnezrouge.com, or go to the Vaudreuil-Dorion Headquarters located at the Centre d’action bénévole L’Actuel, 88 rue Adèle in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The local effort can be reached by calling 450 455-3331. To call for a ride in the region as of Nov. 30th, dial 450 424-4011 or 1-866-Desjardins.
