New job search service for Anglos
Ajob search service aimed at English speaking people that has been running in the region since September is not being as well utilized as organizers had hoped.
Réseaux Emploi Entrepreneurship was created in response to an increase in the number of English-speaking people living in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area. The resource that’s unique to the region seeks to bridge the gap between Englishspeaking job seekers and the job market.
The program uses what it calls the club method, which it says has an 80 percent success rate. The method is an intensive three weeks program pairing an employment counselor with a group of six to eight job seekers. During the time job seekers participate in workshops focusing on such things as personality tests, resume and letter writing, exploring the hidden job market, telephone technique, video job interview practice and networking.
The organization says the method helps job seekers feel less isolated and better able to face a job search. Spots are still open in several upcoming club method sessions including one starting Jan. 21, 2013 and running until Feb. 8. The session after that will start Feb. 25. Three other sessions after the Feb. 25 session are also planned. All are open to participants ready to take action, and who know the type of job they seek. Participants 18 years and older must be available Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
