16 ar­res­ted in two days

Sû­re­té du Qué­bec po­lice of­fi­cers with the Vau­dreuil-Sou­langes East sta­tion ar­res­ted 16 people bet­ween May 15 and 17 for va­rious crimes in­clu­ding drug traf­fi­cking, rob­be­ries in ve­hicles and the rob­be­ry and theft of a ve­hicle. The se­ries of ar­rests be­gan on May 15, when po­lice conduc­ted a drug search in an apart­ment in L’Île-Per­rot. Five men in their mid-twen­ties were ar­res­ted and re­lea­sed and will face charges of drug pos­ses­sion and drug traf­fi­cking. Po­lice sei­zed what ap­pea­red to be me­thamp he­ta­mines, ecs­ta­sy and can­na­bis, as well as drug traf­fi­cking equip­ment.

Claim sto­len goods

Five more young men in their ear­lyt­wen­ties - four from Kirk­land and one from Ri­gaud - were ar­res­ted in Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Per­rot on May 16 at close to 1:30 a.m. for stea­ling from par­ked cars. Po­lice say the van­dals sys­te­ma­ti­cal­ly sear­ched the area for cars which had been left un­lo­cked. The cars tar­ge­ted were par­ked along Al­fred Gref­ford, Per­rier, Po­thier and Pi­cas­so streets. Items were sto­len from close to a do­zen un­lo­cked cars. Po­lice re­co­ve­red ma­ny sto­len items from the sus­pects’ ve­hicle and are as­king vic­tims to come for­ward to re­claim their pro­per­ty by cal­ling 310-4141.

And a clerk at a store on Har­wood Blvd. in Vau­dreuil-Do­rion was tied up af­ter rob­bers poin­ted a gun at the wor­ker on May 16 at 8:45 p.m. Po­lice, who were aler­ted to the crime in pro­gress, were able to catch the thieves in the act, ar­res­ting two in­side the buil­ding and a third out­side. The sus­pects, three men, are 17, 18 and 21 years old.

Five more tee­nage boys were ar­res­ted on May 17 at 3:30 a.m. for stea­ling a car. The youths were caught dri­ving the car in the com­mer­cial area of L’Île-Per­rot.
