16 arrested in two days
Sûreté du Québec police officers with the Vaudreuil-Soulanges East station arrested 16 people between May 15 and 17 for various crimes including drug trafficking, robberies in vehicles and the robbery and theft of a vehicle. The series of arrests began on May 15, when police conducted a drug search in an apartment in L’Île-Perrot. Five men in their mid-twenties were arrested and released and will face charges of drug possession and drug trafficking. Police seized what appeared to be methamp hetamines, ecstasy and cannabis, as well as drug trafficking equipment.
Claim stolen goods
Five more young men in their earlytwenties - four from Kirkland and one from Rigaud - were arrested in Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot on May 16 at close to 1:30 a.m. for stealing from parked cars. Police say the vandals systematically searched the area for cars which had been left unlocked. The cars targeted were parked along Alfred Grefford, Perrier, Pothier and Picasso streets. Items were stolen from close to a dozen unlocked cars. Police recovered many stolen items from the suspects’ vehicle and are asking victims to come forward to reclaim their property by calling 310-4141.
And a clerk at a store on Harwood Blvd. in Vaudreuil-Dorion was tied up after robbers pointed a gun at the worker on May 16 at 8:45 p.m. Police, who were alerted to the crime in progress, were able to catch the thieves in the act, arresting two inside the building and a third outside. The suspects, three men, are 17, 18 and 21 years old.
Five more teenage boys were arrested on May 17 at 3:30 a.m. for stealing a car. The youths were caught driving the car in the commercial area of L’Île-Perrot.
