Ste. Anne Far­mer’s Mar­ket of­fe­ring free holiday work­shops

The Sainte-Anne-de-Bel­le­vue Far­mer’s Mar­ket, which mo­ved to its in­door win­ter lo­ca­tion on Nov. 2, will ce­le­brate the ho­li­days du­ring four spe­cial­ly the­med Ch­rist­mas mar­kets that will al­so fea­ture free work­shops in­clu­ding how to make an au­then­tic gin­ger­bread house, as well as ori­ga­mi pa­per or­na­ments.

Mar­ket coor­di­na­tor Pat­ti Mur­phy says the the­med wee­kends will be the ideal time to stock up on foods and ar­ti­sa­nal gifts. More than 20 lo­cal food pro­du­cers and ar­ti­sans par­ti­ci­pate each wee­kend in the in­door win­ter mar­ket run­ning Sa­tur­day mor­nings from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Saint-Georges Church, 23 Per­rault St., in Sainte-Anne-de-Bel­le­vue.

The the­med wee­kends are as fol­lows:

Nov. 30: Noël Around the World

The mar­ket hall will be de­co­ra­ted for the launch of the sea­so­nal events. Al­so in­clu­ded will be a Dix Milles Vil­lages sale.

Dec. 7: Holiday Bites

Mar­ket pre­sen­ters will help par­ti­ci­pants dis­co­ver their inner chef du­ring a free work­shop where cooks will learn to make nut and cheese stuf­fed figs, as well as other co­lour­ful crea­tions.

Dec. 14: Ori­ga­mi or­na­ments

Pre­sen­ter Dan Bri­se­bois from Tour­ne­Sol farm will de­mons­trate the art of ori­ga­mi pa­per fol­ding. He will work his way up from some simple crea­tions to more chal­len­ging works that can be hung from a tree or gi­ven as gifts. The work­shop is age ap­pro­priate for most chil­dren.

Dec. 21: Gin­ger­bread houses

Pre­sen­ter Shel­ley Ed­wards will lead a work­shop for pa­rents and kids on the art of ma­king an au­then­tic gin­ger­bread house from ba­sic in­gre­dients. She will al­so delve in­to coo­kie de­co­ra­ting tech­niques that will in­clude on­site de­co­ra­ting. A large gin­ger­bread house will be raf­fled du­ring the event.
