Ste. Anne Farmer’s Market offering free holiday workshops
The Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Farmer’s Market, which moved to its indoor winter location on Nov. 2, will celebrate the holidays during four specially themed Christmas markets that will also feature free workshops including how to make an authentic gingerbread house, as well as origami paper ornaments.
Market coordinator Patti Murphy says the themed weekends will be the ideal time to stock up on foods and artisanal gifts. More than 20 local food producers and artisans participate each weekend in the indoor winter market running Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Saint-Georges Church, 23 Perrault St., in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
The themed weekends are as follows:
Nov. 30: Noël Around the World
The market hall will be decorated for the launch of the seasonal events. Also included will be a Dix Milles Villages sale.
Dec. 7: Holiday Bites
Market presenters will help participants discover their inner chef during a free workshop where cooks will learn to make nut and cheese stuffed figs, as well as other colourful creations.
Dec. 14: Origami ornaments
Presenter Dan Brisebois from TourneSol farm will demonstrate the art of origami paper folding. He will work his way up from some simple creations to more challenging works that can be hung from a tree or given as gifts. The workshop is age appropriate for most children.
Dec. 21: Gingerbread houses
Presenter Shelley Edwards will lead a workshop for parents and kids on the art of making an authentic gingerbread house from basic ingredients. She will also delve into cookie decorating techniques that will include onsite decorating. A large gingerbread house will be raffled during the event.
All Market workshops are free to attend and will run on the specified dates from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. For more information on any holiday events email market organizers at email@example.com, or call 514 831-3333.
