Pear­son play pro­ceeds hel­ping Cu­pak snow­suit drive

ALes­ter B. Pear­son School Board holiday event ta­king place Sa­tur­day will help keep chil­dren in need a lot war­mer this win­ter. A Les­ter B. Pear­son Ch­rist­mas Ca­rol is being billed as a fun mul­ti­me­dia pre­sen­ta­tion fea­tu­ring wellk­nown ac­tresses Kathleen McAu­liffe, who has ap­pea­red in do­zens of film and te­le­vi­sion pro­duc­tions in­clu­ding The Avia­tor, and Kathleen Fee, whose cre­dits in­clude the film Mir­ror, Mir­ror, with Ju­lia Ro­berts. The eve­ning will al­so fea­ture the McGill Cho­ral So­cie­ty, The Bom­ba­dils folk band, and stu­dents, tea­chers and ad­mi­nis­tra­tors from across the board’s ter­ri­to­ry. Funds rai­sed du­ring the eve­ning will go to the Pear­son Edu­ca­tio­nal Foun­da­tion’s Rona Cu­pak Fund, which sup­plies stu­dents in need with new snow­suits, boots and more.

Cu­pak, a Ste. Marthe mo­ther of four, was a LBPSB com­mis­sio­ner known for her ti­re­less fight to in­te­grate some Vau­dreuilSou­langes schools clo­ser to the On­ta­rio bor­der wi­thin the Pear­son sys­tem. She achie­ved her goal in 2002. Cu­pak was killed in a head-on col­li­sion with a truck in No­vem­ber, 2006.
