St. Lazare food drive Saturday
An annual tradition in many MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges towns will get underway in Saint-Lazare Saturday when volunteers go door to door collecting for the annual guignolée. Organizers say the aim of the Dec. 7 food drive is collecting as many non perishable food items as possible.
All donations will be used in dozens of Christmas baskets that will be distributed to struggling families in the community. Suggested food donations include the following: canned milk, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, honey, syrup, dried fruits or nuts, rice, pasta, flour, coffee, tea or herbal tea, toiletry items, paper goods, and more. Residents who’d like to donate but who will not be home are asked to leave any well identified donations near their front door.
Looking for volunteers
And organizers are also in need of more volunteers to help collect the food Saturday. Lunch will be provided. Those interested are asked to go to the basement of the Saint-Lazare catholic church, 1980 Chemin Sainte-Angélique, on Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m. For information about the food drive, or about becoming a volunteer call Manon Leroux at 450-455-8000.
