Hud­son, Saint-La­zare win­ter car­ni­vals un­der­way this week

Sa­tur­day big day of fun

Things will kick off in Saint-La­zare Fri­day with a teen dance ta­king place at the com­mu­ni­ty centre, 1301, rue du Bois, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is open to those stu­dents in Se­con­da­ry I and II. Par­ti­ci­pants are en­cou­ra­ged to dress in win­ter white.

And on Jan. 25 people in­ter­es­ted in ice fi­shing can join a tour­na­ment that has been or­ga­ni­zed by le Club Ami­cal Chasse et Pêche. To re­gis­ter, call 450 455-3669, or 450 455-8777. The same day the Op­ti­mist Club’s On Ice Confron­ta­tion for hockey and rin­guette teams (for players 6 to 21-year-old) will be held at Parc Bé­dard, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

And Sa­tur­day will al­so be the big event for the Saint-La­zare Snow Fest and will in­clude a host of outdoor day­time and eve­ning ac­ti­vi­ties ta­king place at the town’s main mu­ni­ci­pal park, Parc Bé­dard. The day­time fun, being held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., will in­clude games, ice ska­ting, bug­gy rides, ATV and dog-sled­ding rides, hot cho­co­late, and more. Eve­ning events will get un­der­way at 7 p.m. with a fire per­for­mer’s show which will be fol­lo­wed by win­ter fi­re­works. Other fes­ti­val events will in­clude: A Jan. 26 Cercle de Fermières Craft and Bake Sale (10 a.m.3:30 p.m.); a Jan. 26 spa­ghet­ti lunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.); the Jan. 27 Snow Fest Blood Do­nor Cli­nic being held from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the Jan. 28 bridge tour­na­ment ta­king place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; a Jan. 30 tour­na­ment eve­ning from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.; a Feb. 1 folk eve­ning get­ting un­der­way at 7:30 p.m. All above events will be held at the

At least two an­nual win­ter car­ni­vals get­ting un­der­way this week in Hud­son and SaintLa­zare will in­clude an ava­lanche of chil­ly fun for par­ti­ci­pants of all ages.

Hud­son Shi­ver-Fest

Not to be out­done, the Hud­son Shi­verFest will get un­der­way Sa­tur­day, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Hud­son Com­mu­ni­ty Centre, 394, rue Main, with a Rob­bie Burns Night. For ti­ckets to the al­ways po­pu­lar event, call 450 458-4882.

The Hud­son car­ni­val will conti­nue the following wee­kend with the main event, The Pine Lake Tra­di­tio­nal Ska­ting Par­ty. The Feb. 1 fes­ti­vi­ties, being held from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., will in­clude the Shi­ver-Fest Co­ro­na­tion of the fes­ti­val king and queen.

And win­ter hi­king en­thu­siasts can get in on the Feb. 1 Ram­blers As­so­cia­tion Hike across the Lake of Two Moun­tains, ta­king place from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Other Hud­son fes­ti­val events will in­clude: the Feb. 1 Hud­son Le­gion Shi­ver-Fest Cur­ling Open House; the Feb. 2 Quarry Point Soft­ball on Ice Tour­na­ment on the Lake of Two Moun­tains, ta­king place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a free shin­ny hockey tour­na­ment on the lake being held eve­ry Sa­tur­day be­gin­ning Feb. 2. The Hud­son fes­ti­val will conclude on Feb. 9 with the 4 k., or 12 k. Silly & Frilly Va­len­tine’s Ice Bridge Run (or walk), being held from 9 a.m. to noon.
