Hudson, Saint-Lazare winter carnivals underway this week
Saturday big day of fun
Things will kick off in Saint-Lazare Friday with a teen dance taking place at the community centre, 1301, rue du Bois, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is open to those students in Secondary I and II. Participants are encouraged to dress in winter white.
And on Jan. 25 people interested in ice fishing can join a tournament that has been organized by le Club Amical Chasse et Pêche. To register, call 450 455-3669, or 450 455-8777. The same day the Optimist Club’s On Ice Confrontation for hockey and ringuette teams (for players 6 to 21-year-old) will be held at Parc Bédard, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And Saturday will also be the big event for the Saint-Lazare Snow Fest and will include a host of outdoor daytime and evening activities taking place at the town’s main municipal park, Parc Bédard. The daytime fun, being held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., will include games, ice skating, buggy rides, ATV and dog-sledding rides, hot chocolate, and more. Evening events will get underway at 7 p.m. with a fire performer’s show which will be followed by winter fireworks. Other festival events will include: A Jan. 26 Cercle de Fermières Craft and Bake Sale (10 a.m.3:30 p.m.); a Jan. 26 spaghetti lunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.); the Jan. 27 Snow Fest Blood Donor Clinic being held from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the Jan. 28 bridge tournament taking place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; a Jan. 30 tournament evening from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.; a Feb. 1 folk evening getting underway at 7:30 p.m. All above events will be held at the
At least two annual winter carnivals getting underway this week in Hudson and SaintLazare will include an avalanche of chilly fun for participants of all ages.

Not to be outdone, the Hudson ShiverFest will get underway Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Hudson Community Centre, 394, rue Main, with a Robbie Burns Night. For tickets to the always popular event, call 450 458-4882.
The Hudson carnival will continue the following weekend with the main event, The Pine Lake Traditional Skating Party. The Feb. 1 festivities, being held from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., will include the Shiver-Fest Coronation of the festival king and queen.
And winter hiking enthusiasts can get in on the Feb. 1 Ramblers Association Hike across the Lake of Two Mountains, taking place from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Other Hudson festival events will include: the Feb. 1 Hudson Legion Shiver-Fest Curling Open House; the Feb. 2 Quarry Point Softball on Ice Tournament on the Lake of Two Mountains, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a free shinny hockey tournament on the lake being held every Saturday beginning Feb. 2. The Hudson festival will conclude on Feb. 9 with the 4 k., or 12 k. Silly & Frilly Valentine’s Ice Bridge Run (or walk), being held from 9 a.m. to noon.
