Hudson Village Theatre bids adieu to Markfraf-Lowe
Founding Artistic Director ‘exploring opportunities’
The Hudson Village Theatre will again bid a fond farewell to Heather Markgraf-Lowe when she steps down as the part-time Artistic Director at the end of August.
Markgraf-Lowe who founded the professional theatre that brings quality English productions to the region, said she is leaving to “explore several exciting opportunities.”
She has worked as the theatre’s AD for the past three years, and took over after former AD Andrew Johnston’s contract was not renewed.
Markgraf-Lowe stepped in at a time when the fate of the theatre that she had left some years before was thought to be up in the air.
Kalina Skulska, HVT Executive Director, said the theatre is now thriving and looking forward to another busy summer season.
“It was a pleasure to work with Heather for the past three years, witnessing the passion and commitment she has for the grassroots initiative that began as a tent in a field more than twenty years ago,” Skulska said.
New AD wanted
Markgraf-Lowe’s dedication and vision were noted during the theatre’s March 19 AGM.
The news means the Hudson Village Theatre is in the process of seeking a new part-time Artistic Director. Skulska said interested candidates can apply by sending their CV with a cover letter to her attention at firstname.lastname@example.org, with ‘AD Application’ in the subject line. The theatre was founded in 1993, as a professional English language performing arts venue and theatre company to offer a diverse selection of year-round performances. Today the theatre that is now housed in a charming converted Hudson train station is home to everything from professional, equity theatrical productions, to film screenings of award winning movies and documentaries, a filmed live opera series, amateur theatrical and musical productions and more. Skulska says many people are not aware that the theatre is open year round. For more information call the Hudson Village Theatre offices at 450 458-2743.
