Pal­lia­tive care home walks this wee­kend

The third an­nual Vau­dreuil-Sou­langes Pal­lia­tive Care Re­si­dence team walk will take place this wee­kend in five dif­ferent Vau­dreuil-Sou­langes towns.

The May 4 Bou­ras­sa Boyer Walk for the VSPCR will si­mul­ta­neous­ly get un­der­way at 10 a.m. at lo­ca­tion in Hud­son, Rigaud, Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Per­rot, Co­teau-du-Lac and Vau­dreuil-Do­rion.

And or­ga­ni­zers say there is still time for fa­mi­lies, friends, co-wor­kers to form teams of two or more par­ti­ci­pants. Each team is chal­len­ged to col­lect at least $1,000 in do­na­tions that will go to­ward ope­ra­ting costs at the Hud­son fa­ci­li­ty.

Or­ga­ni­zers hope to raise at least $175,000 bet­ween all five lo­ca­tions.

Each event will conclude with bar­be­cues or fa­mi­ly pic­nics.

The towns

Walks will get un­der­way this Sun­day in the fol­lo­wing towns: The Notre-Dame de L’Île Per­rot walk will take place along the wa­ter­front grounds of the his­to­ric Pointe-du-Mou­lin Park, while wal­kers in Rigaud will de­part from Park Char­tier-De Lot­bi­nière and tra­vel along the trails of the l’Es­ca­pade path. Wal­kers in Co­teau-du-Lac will de­par­ture from the com­mu­ni­ty cen­ter and tra­vel along the bike trails to end at the Co­teau-du­Lac Na­tio­nal His­to­ric Site. Vau­dreuilDo­rion wal­kers will start at Va­lois Park, tra­vel along the bike path running pa­ral­lel to the Lake of Two Moun­tains and end at the Chateau Vau­dreuil where they will then head back to Va­lois Park for a pic­nic. And Hud­son wal­kers will de­part from Jack Lay­ton Park, walk along the San­dy Beach Na­ture Trail and re­turn to Lay­ton Park for the post walk fes­ti­vi­ties.

The themes of this year’s event is Dis­co­ve­ry, So­cia­li­za­tion and Health Be­ne­fits.

Funds rai­sed du­ring the five walks will be used to help the VSPCR conti­nue of­fe­ring its end-of-life care free of charge to pa­tients and their fa­mi­lies.
