Palliative care home walks this weekend
The third annual Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence team walk will take place this weekend in five different Vaudreuil-Soulanges towns.
The May 4 Bourassa Boyer Walk for the VSPCR will simultaneously get underway at 10 a.m. at location in Hudson, Rigaud, Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot, Coteau-du-Lac and Vaudreuil-Dorion.
And organizers say there is still time for families, friends, co-workers to form teams of two or more participants. Each team is challenged to collect at least $1,000 in donations that will go toward operating costs at the Hudson facility.
Organizers hope to raise at least $175,000 between all five locations.
Each event will conclude with barbecues or family picnics.
Walks will get underway this Sunday in the following towns: The Notre-Dame de L’Île Perrot walk will take place along the waterfront grounds of the historic Pointe-du-Moulin Park, while walkers in Rigaud will depart from Park Chartier-De Lotbinière and travel along the trails of the l’Escapade path. Walkers in Coteau-du-Lac will departure from the community center and travel along the bike trails to end at the Coteau-duLac National Historic Site. VaudreuilDorion walkers will start at Valois Park, travel along the bike path running parallel to the Lake of Two Mountains and end at the Chateau Vaudreuil where they will then head back to Valois Park for a picnic. And Hudson walkers will depart from Jack Layton Park, walk along the Sandy Beach Nature Trail and return to Layton Park for the post walk festivities.
The themes of this year’s event is Discovery, Socialization and Health Benefits.
Funds raised during the five walks will be used to help the VSPCR continue offering its end-of-life care free of charge to patients and their families.
