NDP hosting Canada Post meeting Friday
Alexandre Boulerice, the NDP MP for Rosemont-La Petite Patrie and critic for Canada Post, will host an information evening this Friday beginning at 7 p.m., at the Vaudreuil-Dorion Multisport complex, located at 3093, boulevard de la Gare.
And Vaudreuil-Soulanges NDP MP Jamie Nicholls will join Boulerice during the May 16 event that organizers say will focus on the Conservative government’s plan to end home mail delivery services, the impact the changes may have on citizens, and measures that can be taken to change the situation.
Nicholls feels the issue is a priority for Vaudreuil-Soulanges residents. “Close to a thousand citizens have already written to us to save Canada Post,” he said, adding he feels the strong opposition “proves that people are attached to their postal services and that they support our efforts.”
In a press release, Boulerice said resistance to the cut is becoming more organized. He said those attending Friday’s meeting will come away with several tools to help them get involved while forcing the government to back down.
