Pin­court hos­ting ska­te­boar­ding fes­ti­val Sa­tur­day

Ska­te­fest rol­ling out wel­come

A spe­cial com­mit­tee made up of Pin­court youths and for Pin­court youths is cal­ling all ska­te­boar­ding en­thu­siasts to at­tend a se­cond an­nual skate fes­ti­val ta­king place on Sa­tur­day.

The Pin­court Youth Ac­tion Com­mit­tee col­la­bo­ra­ted with Que­bec com­pa­ny Vi­sion Twelve, which spe­cia­lizes in moun­ting such events, to or­ga­nize Ska­te­fest 2014. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m on June 28. at the Pin­court ska­te­park, lo­ca­ted next to the Om­niCentre, 375 Car­di­nal-Lé­ger Blvd.

The day that will ope­rate with a jam for­mat, mea­ning more than one ska­te­boar­der can go down a ramp at a time, will al­so in­clude mu­sic, bar­be­cued foods, door prizes and more.

And the com­mit­tee is chal­len­ging ska­te­boar­ders to bring along their best ska­te­boar­ding tricks for a lit­tle friend­ly com­pe­ti­tion. Par­ti­ci­pants will have the chance to win a $150 Nixon Blas­ter wi­re­less spea­ker.

Last year Twelve Vi­sion hel­ped the town host its inau­gu­ral skate fes­ti­val. The day was at­ten­ded by more than 50 ska­te­boar­ders.

All par­ti­ci­pants to Sa­tur­day’s event must wear a hel­met. In the event of rain the fes­ti­val will take place the fol­lo­wing day, on June 29. For in­for­ma­tion contact Cé­lia Corriveau at 514 453-2040, ext. 73.

The Pin­court Youth Ac­tion Com­mit­tee is a mu­ni­ci­pal com­mit­tee com­pri­sed of ten re­si­dents bet­ween 14 and 25 years old. The group’s goal is to give a voice to Pin­court youths while or­ga­ni­zing ac­ti­vi­ties and pro­jects that will keep them en­ga­ged in po­si­tive things.
