Bridge to Burundi music fest Saturday
An annual music festival that’s organized and run by students and —HUDSON teachers from Westwood Sr. High School in Hudson will take place this weekend. The fifth annual Westwood Bridge to Burundi Music and Dance Festival will get underway at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22, at the Hudson Community Centre, 394 Main Rd. And the popular cultural event that features good food and great music has earned an official fair trade designation this year.
The effort supports the Westwood Bridge to Burundi Project. The initiative that’s been ongoing for more than seven years has funded the building of a school house and a clinic, as well as other life changing improvements in Rwoga, a town in the poor African country of Burundi. The Oct. 22 festival will include a cash bar and tapas. Music will be provided by Oliver Forest, El Proyecto Colectivo, The Casuals and Whiskey Hotel.
