Bridge to Bu­run­di mu­sic fest Sa­tur­day

An an­nual mu­sic fes­ti­val that’s or­ga­ni­zed and run by stu­dents and —HUD­SON tea­chers from West­wood Sr. High School in Hud­son will take place this wee­kend. The fifth an­nual West­wood Bridge to Bu­run­di Mu­sic and Dance Fes­ti­val will get un­der­way at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22, at the Hud­son Com­mu­ni­ty Centre, 394 Main Rd. And the po­pu­lar cultu­ral event that fea­tures good food and great mu­sic has ear­ned an of­fi­cial fair trade de­si­gna­tion this year.

The ef­fort sup­ports the West­wood Bridge to Bu­run­di Pro­ject. The ini­tia­tive that’s been on­going for more than se­ven years has fun­ded the buil­ding of a school house and a cli­nic, as well as other life chan­ging im­pro­ve­ments in Rwo­ga, a town in the poor Afri­can coun­try of Bu­run­di. The Oct. 22 fes­ti­val will in­clude a cash bar and ta­pas. Mu­sic will be pro­vi­ded by Oli­ver Fo­rest, El Proyec­to Co­lec­ti­vo, The Ca­suals and Whis­key Ho­tel.
