Atom Stallions win provincials
The SaintLazare —FOOTBALL Stallions Atom team is still celebrating its big win last month of the provincial title in their division in a game that took place at the Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal. The 8 and 9 year-old players earned a trip on Nov. 12 to the big stadium after winning the Montreal Regional Football League (MRFL) championship final. It was the first time the team had won the title. They made history again on Nov. 19 when they won the provincial championship Ballon d’Argent in a game against the Richelieu Pirates. Though the two teams were scoreless at the half, the Stallions took over by the forth quarter, scoring three touchdowns and beating the undefeated Pirates 24-8. Head Coach Frantz Jacob credited the parents for their dedication to the young athletes, while team manager Leeann Blondin said Jacob’s encouragement and support helped lead the team to its ultimate victory.
