The Pin­court Win­ter­fest, open to all re­si­dents, will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Olym­pique Park on Jan. 28. And ma­king an ap­pea­rance will be two cha­rac­ters Mar­shall and Sky - from the po­pu­lar ani­ma­ted Ca­na­dian chil­dren’s TV se­ries Paw Pa­trol. Ano­ther unique event high­light will give vi­si­tors the chance to play pool-soc­cer, a hy­brid game com­bi­ning com­po­nents from the sport of soc­cer and others from billiards, which sees par­ti­ci­pants use soc­cer skills while playing on a giant pool table. In ad­di­tion, or­ga­ni­zers say there will al­so be dog­sled­ding teams avai­lable to trans­port youn­ger par­ti­ci­pants, in­fla­table games, pe­dal go-karts, a mi­ni farm­house, ani­ma­tion, and more. Food trucks and an on­site su­gar shack will be avai­lable to feed guests for ad­di­tio­nal fees.

And a new ad­di­tion to the 2017 fes­ti­val will be the in­clu­sion of a de­di­ca­ted ac­tion and ener­gy zone that will al­low people to be­come gla­dia­tors, or to show off their bas­ket­ball or strength skills. Meanw­hile, mem­bers of the Pin­court Vo­lun­teer Fi­re­figh­ters As­so­cia­tion will be on hand to par­ti­ci­pate in down­hill snow tu­bing with lo­cal kids.


The Hud­son Shiver Fest will run from Feb. 3 - 11, with one event being conti­nued on Feb. 15. Ma­ny events will be held at Ben­son Park in­clu­ding: A chain­saw wood car­ving de­mons­tra­tion and a car­ving for kids event, as well as a Ca­na­dian Nin­ja Win­ter War­rior event (Feb. 4), and an old fa­shio­ned ska­ting par­ty (Feb. 5). The Ca­na­dian Nin­ja Win­ter War­rior theme will conti­nue with a moon­light snow­shoe ramble and bon­fire on Feb. 11.

Com­mu­ni­ty events ta­king place at the Ste­phen F. Shaar Com­mu­ni­ty Centre will in­clude the fol­lo­wing: A fa­mi­ly dance on Feb. 3, fa­mi­ly bin­go on Feb. 4, ex­treme puzzle com­pe­ti­tions on Feb. 8, 10 and 15, a Shiver Fest su­gar shack break­fast on Feb. 11 and Stitch for a Cause on Feb. 11. Anyone going to the Jan. 28 Pin­court Win­ter­fest can try their hand at playing soc­cer-pool, a game com­bi­ning soc­cer skills with a giant billiards table.
