Medicine Hat News - - HOMETOWN NEWS -

One of the municipal elections candidates who registered early in the process has decided to withdraw from the race.

“With the high number of candidates running, no one’s voice will be heard at the forums except the incumbents,” said Jim Black.

It was March 8 the News revealed Black, a retired school teacher, had registered as a candidate.

Black ran in the 2013 municipal election and in the 2015 provincial election.

The final day to register as a candidate in the municipal election is Monday. So far there are three candidates for mayor and 15 for council. Of the 15, there are seven incumbents.
