Kubo and the Two Strings

2 p.m. on Filmed in 3-D stop-motion animation, this delightful 2016 fantasy is set in ancient Japan, where an eyepatch-wearing little boy named Kubo leads a quiet life in a small village until a spirit from the past renews an age-old vendetta, plunging the lad into a search for his father’s magical armor to survive. The impressive voice cast for the film, which got an Oscar nod as best animated feature, includes Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Fiennes, Rooney Mara and George Takei, with Art Parkinson as Kubo.
