In­stead of in­va­sive open heart surgery, which re­quires gen­eral anes­thetic, slic­ing of the ster­num, or breast­bone, and long hos­pi­tal stays and re­cov­ery time, pa­tients were awake for the 45-minute pro­ce­dure and walk­ing within a few hours.
