when: Satur­day and Sun­day where: Royal Al­berta Mu­seum ( 12845 102 Av­enue) Ever wanted to walk a Hol­ly­wood-in­spired red car­pet? Now’s your chance. In ad­di­tion, the fes­ti­val fea­tures Al­berta in­die films, live mu­sic, craft beer and most im­por­tantly: free pop­corn. On Sun­day they will screen fam­ily-friendly short films as well as some shorts cre­ated by stu­dents.

where: Haunted Sands Ho­tel (12340 Fort Rd NW) With Hal­loween just a cou­ple of weeks away, now is the per­fect time to in­dulge in all things hor­ror, su­per­nat­u­ral and sci-fi. This event, the first of it’s kind in Al­berta, is a tradeshow for unique cos­tumes and trin­kets.

when: Satur­day, 7 to 11 p.m. where: Fort Ed­mon­ton Park Call it home­grown hor­ror: now in its 10th year, this theatre per­for­mance uses “ur­ban lore and fac­tual his­tory” about the area to get view­ers into the spirit of Hal­loween.

when: 11 p.m. Satur­day to 6 a.m. Sun­day where: The Mead­ows Com­mu­nity Recre­ation Cen­tre Di­wali is the Hindu fes­ti­val of lights, and the bazaar will fea­ture In­dian cui­sine, pot­tery, home decor, tra­di­tional cloth­ing, jew­elry and henna. The colour­ful event is a great to im­merse your­self in a vi­brant cul­ture.

Pop’s Chock’ lit shoppe

when: Fri­day, 7 to 11 p.m. where: Route 99 Diner To cel­e­brate the sec­ond sea­son of Net­flix se­ries, Riverdale, Route 99 Diner will trans­form into the fic­tional diner and of­fer free milk­shakes to the first 200 guests. Peo­ple will have the op­tion of choos­ing be­tween Betty (Old-Fash­ioned Vanilla) and Veron­ica (Dou­ble Choco­late), an Archie-style dilemma fea­tured in the Archie comic se­ries.
