Fanfair noW a family affair
For Eileen and Vernon Davidson, the annual Farmfair International is a chance to not only show their cattle off but spend time with family and friends.
Known as Davidson Gelbvieh, the family run business has been driving eight hours from Saskatchewan each year to Edmonton with their cattle for years to attend Farmfair since their four children were very young. Now ranging from 30 to 38 years old, their children have grown and are also attending this weekend.
“My husband Vernon has been coming even longer than me because I would stay home with the children but now they are all grown up and come to help us out and give us an extra hand,” Eileen explains. “We made a lot of good friends here over the years and since it’s quite a drive, we get to see a lot of people we don’t see for the whole year.”
The family brings a handful of their cattle to showcase the best of their herds at home.
“It’s a long way to come but it’s always a really good show. We don’t always bring a big lineup, but we bring what we can to show people and we always look forward to it.”
