Biebs gone wild
The rapid rise of our other famous Justin
Canada has two famous Justins these days, and one of them has been keeping a low profile lately. But to say that Justin Bieber has been more than a little overexposed these last few years would be an understatement.
The Canadian pop star has been a non-stop cultural presence since the 2010 release of his single “Baby,” on concert stages, on album and single charts, and in gossip pages.
The Stratford, Ontario-born Bieber became the first artist with five #1 albums to his name before his 19th birthday, just one of a long list of accomplishments for the now 23-year-old.
He was also the first artist to reach a billion views on VEVO, perhaps an even more important metric for artists in the age of social media. In fact it was social media that introduced the world to Bieber, with Usher manager Scooter Braun deciding to pursue him as a client in 2007 after viewing his cover videos on Youtube when Bieber was still a pre-teen.
Since then, the Biebs has sold some 140 million records and has filled stadiums worldwide.
