Loss of habi­tat leads to ur­ban raid

Due to loss of nat­u­ral habi­tat, ba­boons on the Cape Penin­sula are adapt­ing to hu­man en­vi­ron­ment, en­ter­ing ur­ban ar­eas in search of food.

“The in­tim­i­da­tion that the big males em­ploy has be­come phys­i­cal and my young son no longer feels safe in the house,” says Pier­rer de Vil­liers, who lives in the town of Scar­bor­ough on the penin­sula.
