Bor­der o icers ind drugs in over­seas ship­ment

Bor­der Ser­vices Agency o icers in Ot­tawa found a host of il­le­gal drugs in a cargo ship­ment from China ear­lier this sum­mer. A July 27 ship­ment at the Ot­tawa Cargo Ser­vices O ice con­tained two boxes with a to­tal of 51 bot­tles of PVC pel­lets. O icers X-rayed them and found one con­cealed pack­ages, which they sent to a lab­o­ra­tory for test­ing. Test­ing re­vealed three am­phet­a­mine stim­u­lants, sev­eral syn­thetic drugs, one fen­tanyl ana­logue and two ke­tamine ana­logues. The drugs were seized but no one has been ar­rested or charged. The province’s Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit is in­ves­ti­gat­ing a po­lice-in­volved shoot­ing in Ot­tawa. The SIU says two po­lice o icers got in an al­ter­ca­tion with two males in the east end Tues­day. The o icers ired their weapons and wounded both men, who were treated for their in­juries and taken into cus­tody. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion or video ev­i­dence is urged to con­tact the agency.

The SIU in­ves­ti­gates all re­ports in­volv­ing po­lice where there is death, se­ri­ous in­jury or al­le­ga­tions of sex­ual as­sault.
