Flynn quits as ad­viser

Na­tional-se­cu­rity ad­viser Michael Flynn re­signed Mon­day night af­ter re­ports he mis­led Trump ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cials about his con­tacts with Rus­sia’s am­bas­sador to the U.S.

In his res­ig­na­tion let­ter, Flynn wrote that “be­cause of the fast pace of events, I in­ad­ver­tently briefed the vice-pres­i­dent elect and oth­ers with in­com­plete in­for­ma­tion.”

He added that he was hon­oured to have served on the team be­hind what will “go down in his­tory as one of the great­est pres­i­den­cies in U.S. his­tory.”

Vice-pres­i­dent Mike Pence had pre­vi­ously vouched for Flynn.
