BraunA­bil­ity and Chrysler team up to cre­ate wheel­chair-ac­ces­si­ble Paci­fica

The Chrysler Paci­fica is the most spa­cious wheel­chair-ac­ces­si­ble ve­hi­cle in the in­dus­try.

The Amer­i­can au­tomaker teamed up with BraunA­bil­ity to de­sign a wheel­chair-ac­ces­si­ble Paci­fica that is mak­ing its de­but at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.

The mini­van fea­tures patent­pend­ing Ac­cessA­bil­ity tech­nol­ogy, in­clud­ing an aerospacein­spired slid­ing door ex­ten­sion and the in­dus­try’s widest sideen­try ramp.

Help­ing ex­pand in­te­rior space are rear-axle space in­no­va­tions and can­tilevered seat bases.

And to en­sure Chrysler in­tegrity and qual­ity, BraunA­bil­ity sources its com­po­nents through the same sup­pli­ers and crasht­ests to the high­est au­to­mo­tive stan­dards.

The part­ner­ship be­tween the two com­pa­nies also in­clude co­pro­mo­tion sup­port for the Give a Dog a Job Pro­gram ben­e­fit­ing Ca­nine Com­pan­ions for In­de­pen­dence.

The wheel­chair-ac­ces­si­ble Chrysler Paci­fica is just the lat­est in a long-time part­ner­ship be­tween the two brands, which be­gan more than 45 years ago.

“Whether it’s a vet­eran, a col­league, friend or a fam­ily mem­ber, there’s a good chance we all know some­one with a phys­i­cal dis­abil­ity who needs help get­ting to the places and events that mat­ter most to them,” said Tim Ku­niskis, head of Pas­sen­ger Cars, Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA North Amer­ica.
