Black­mail not new haz­ard for celebri­ties

Here are some other big names who’ve been black­mailed:

Bill cosby: In 1997, Au­tumn Jackson at­tempted to ex­tort $40 mil­lion from the co­me­dian, al­leg­ing Cosby may have fa­thered Jackson dur­ing an af­fair. Jackson was con­victed of ex­tor­tion and sen­tenced to 26 months in prison.

cameron Diaz: In 2005, pho­tog­ra­pher John Rut­ter threat­ened to release racy top­less pho­tos he’d taken of the ac­tress in 1992 un­less she paid him $3.5 mil­lion. A Cal­i­for­nia judge con­victed Rut­ter and sen­tenced him to three years and eight months in prison.

Yoko ono: In 2006, chauf­feur Ko­ral Karsan was sen­tenced to time served af­ter plead­ing guilty to at­tempted grand lar­ceny fol­low­ing a de­mand for $2 mil­lion not to release em­bar­rass­ing pho­tos of Ono.

David let­ter­man: In 2006, for­mer CBS news pro­ducer Robert Hal­der­man de­manded $2 mil­lion from the for­mer late-night host to keep quiet about af­fairs Let­ter­man had with fe­male staffers on his show, in­clud­ing Hal­der­man’s girl­friend. Let­ter­man ac­knowl­edged the af­fairs and apol­o­gized on air while Hal­der­man was con­victed and spent four months in jail.

John Tra­volta: In 2009, fol­low­ing the sud­den death of his son Jett in the Ba­hamas, a para­medic and an ex-se­na­tor de­manded $25 mil­lion not to release per­sonal info about the ac­tor’s role in the event. The charges were dis­missed a year later at Tra­volta’s re­quest.

John Sta­mos: In 2010, Michi­gan couple Al­li­son Coss and Scott Sip­pola tried to squeeze the TV ac­tor for $680,000 af­ter claim­ing to have pho­tos of Sta­mos us­ing il­le­gal drugs and ca­vort­ing with pros­ti­tutes. They were each sen­tenced to four years in prison.
