Gearing up for annual town hall

Midtown Post - - News | Local Politics - Josh Matlow Ward 22 Councillor

Every day, I enjoy the many conversations I share with residents at our local shops, parks and on our neighbourhood streets, and I welcome the opportunity to hear directly from our community on several local and citywide priorities. Please feel welcome to join me at these upcoming events.

Every year, I hold a town hall meeting before I vote on the city’s annual budget. It’s important to me that I feel confident that I’m reflecting and representing the priorities and opinions of the majority of Ward 22’s residents. I’ve invited a senior member of the city’s finance department to provide a detailed presentation and take your questions. The 2017 budget will affect virtually every City of Toronto service, and I encourage your feedback. It will be held on Feb. 7, 2017, 7 p.m., at Christ Church Deer Park, Elliot Hall, 1570 Yonge St.

I worked closely with local residents to ensure our local skating rink was not only rebuilt, but would have newly expanded community hours. Together, we did it. I’m delighted to be co-hosting a community skating party with our local MPs, Rob Oliphant and Carolyn Bennett. Let’s celebrate and have fun together on Feb. 12, 2 to 4 p.m., at Hodgson Ice Rink.

Over the past couple years, I have worked with the local community and city staff to save significant portions of Glebe Manor Lawn Bowling Club and Manor Road United Church from townhouse developments. We were able to secure the sites as new parkland. Please join us for our next meeting to discuss their design on Feb. 27, 6:30 p.m., at 240 Manor Rd. E.
