Midtown Post - - Ask The Expert -

Our goal is to empower our clients, at any level of experience, to live well through improved body movement. We provide a toolbox of knowledge to refine your general health and guide you toward your potential to live well. We combine the science of movement with the art of smooth-flowing exercises. This combination produces a strong and stable core, and builds bodies to move with ease and efficiency. A stronger core allows for better balance, posture, and fluidity of motion.

The reformer improves overall strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. These things in turn lead to ease of motion in everyday life, better posture, graceful, efficient movement. For many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as low back pain, cranky hips or neck/shoulders improves.

The studio has expert instructors who are able to manage new to Pilates, pre/post-natal, post-surgical rehabilitation, neurological disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, sports specific conditioning and general conditioning.

The best way to learn Pilates reformer is in a class or through private instruction. Once you learn some exercises and begin to understand the foundations of Pilates exercise, it might make sense to transition to semi-privates or group classes. Safety is always on a concern and working safely and effectively through guidance is instrumental to achieving success. “I think it’s safe to say that the majority of people who begin an exercise regime do so with the easily defined goal of losing weight, physical weight… Here’s the thing — exercising your body makes you strong and strong isn’t just in your muscles, it’s in your mind, too. The self-confidence that comes from feeling powerful, standing taller, moving with a more youthful gait … these less tangible benefits of exercise are akin to losing metaphorical weight and I believe they are much more important and desirable, because once you attain this ‘state of being’ the perceived ‘extra’ (5lbs, 10lbs…) simply doesn’t matter as much.” Deb, new client
