Camarra's began in 1933 in Popoli, Abruzzo, Italy an area known as the "Green Heart of Europe" for its crystal waters, numerous Nature Reserves and fertile land. This is the land from whence hails world-famous Pasta DeCecco, DOCG Extra Virgin Olive Oils and excellent cheeses. This is the epicurean tradition that Elisa Camarra holds in her heart, that inspires new recipes that form the bedrock of her generations-old recipes. Handcrafted Artisanal pizzas, hand-drawn pastas, homemade desserts; Camarra's traditional Italian meals reflect a passion for authentic flavours and a healthy respect for "the way it should be made!". No corners are cut. "We were the second pizzeria to open in Toronto, in September 1958", reflects Elisa, "and today we are the only one of those first few pizzerias still owned and operated by the original owner. That's a 6 decades love affair with our customers. I'm quite humbled to know that our pizza travels, packed in suitcases and carry-ons, from Halifax to Victoria, and even into the US!
