Award-win­ning jour­nal­ist Tracey

Tong lives and writes in Ot­tawa, On­tario. The Burling­ton na­tive, who longed to own a dog as a child but had to set­tle for a se­ries of ham­sters, ful­filled a life­long dream when she adopted two dogs—Cujo the Chi­huahua and Roland the Minia­ture Dachshund. A for­mer daily news edi­tor and me­dia spokesper­son, Tracey’s work has ap­peared in pub­li­ca­tions all over North Amer­ica. This is­sue marks Tracey’s Mod­ern Dog de­but. Gar­cia is best known for his ed­i­to­rial work in The Wall Street Jour­nal and

Sci­en­tific Amer­i­can, as well as WIRED mag­a­zine. With em­pha­sis on flat colours and line-work, his art­work has been de­scribed as con­cep­tual yet charm­ingly ex­per­i­men­tal. To re­lax from the hus­tle of il­lus­tra­tion life, he en­joys vis­it­ing his mom and her two adorable dogs, Diesel and Bree. Most re­cently he was awarded Bronze in 3x3’s pres­ti­gious Pro­fes­sional-Il­lus­tra­tion An­nual com­pe­ti­tion. Pho­tog­ra­pher Cassie Reniers lives in Fred­er­ick, Mary­land with her hus­band, daugh­ter, two Pugs (be­cause you can’t have just one), and a Pekingese who may or may not be part Wookie. When Cassie be­gan fos­ter­ing res­cue dogs, she re­al­ized that high qual­ity pho­tographs could have a real im­pact in help­ing them get adopted. Work­ing with res­cue dogs has im­pacted her pho­tog­ra­phy style and she loves to cap­ture im­ages of dogs with their peo­ple, mak­ing Cassie the per­fect choice to pho­to­graph our Star Dog con­test win­ner.
