Onus shouldn’t be on the women

Re: “Men and women, both behaving badly” (Christie Blatchford, April 20)

I’m surprised and disappointed by Christie Blatchford’s reaction to Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly situation.

Fox News settled with some of its now former host’s accusers for several millions and appears to have looked the other way, supporting a workplace where women felt their employment was at risk if they refused a powerful man’s advances or complained about his inappropriate comments.

Why does Blatchford suggest that they were gold-digging (not all have sued demanding financial compensation) and that they should have just quit and moved on?

Why is the onus again on the women to make this right?

Bill O’Reilly is the maker of his own downfall.
