Canada sent 202 athletes to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, who did the country proud by capturing 26 medals, including 14 gold. Alexandre Bilodeau produced the first gold by winning the men’s moguls, while Maelle Ricker, pictured, became the first Canadian woman to win gold in snowboardi­ng, in the snowboard cross event. Pairs skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir became the first and youngest Canadian winners in a sport normally dominated by Europeans. Ashleigh McIvor won in freestyle skicross. Both men’s and women’s hockey teams captured the gold, both against the U.S.
