Recent transformations in public capacity. services underline the need to work differently to serve youth. LaSalle-Wrap is an option for those experiencing difficulties with professional services (education, health, justice, or social services).
LaSalle-Wrap is a pilot project implemented by the Boys and Girls Club of LaSalle that works with youth in a unique and innovative way. The project uses a highly individualized approach with people experiencing multiple persistent needs and helps them fulfil their potential. The approach strengthens and links supportive relationships from all walks of life; these can be with family members, teachers, social workers, coaches, etc. Chances of success increase when positive supports combine their energy and focus it on the youth’s goals, in a way that highlights their voice, choice, and dignity. The changes that have taken place in care over the past years highlight the need to integrate community and system supports and look at youth who are having challenges with existing systems in a new light. The LaSalleWrap team is doing just that, and preliminary evaluation data is showing promising results.
On March 30th, LaSalle-Wrap will invite key people who are engaged in the community and who have participated in the project to deepen relationships that are the foundation of its success. Changing Lives, Together, will be an opportunity to learn more about the Wraparound approach and connect with others who are either professionally or informally dedicated to building healthier communities in which our youth can thrive.
