A sweet loaf is defined as a portion of bread or cake baked in a mass, usually oblong, with a rounded top. Today’s recipes for traditional sweet loaves come from the family’s recipe box and have been tested over the years by a number of friends and family members. Loaves may be made in large numbers, in a variety of sized loaf pans, to be shared at Christmas time with company or as gifts for someone who no longer bakes. Most loaves may be frozen for a number of weeks.
