Spring Creek dam complete
Crews have finished almost two weeks of work rebuilding the earth dam at Spring Creek and Ninth Avenue Northwest. The new dam set close to the road is much higher and will hold water back from floods when the creek runs over. The smaller dam and walkway across the creek have been breached twice in four years to allow flooding waters through. The breaches broke the walking path across the Creek connecting the VLA side of the creek. Now that both sides are again connected, walkers and hikers can access the north side to view trees, shrubs and wildlife in the park. A second phase of the project will involve a new larger culvert under the Ninth Avenue road to the eastern creekside.
