Come one...Come all...to Spring Val­ley 1st An­nual Craft & Bake Sale!

For the first time, Spring Val­ley Com­mu­nity Hall will be host­ing “A Coun­try Christ­mas Craft and Bake Sale” on Satur­day, Novem­ber 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The event will be held at the Spring Val­ley Com­mu­nity Hall, lo­cated in Spring Val­ley, Sk and will be free for the pub­lic. The Hall is lo­cated in the heart of the scenic Cac­tus and Dirt Hills, ap­prox­i­mately 55 kilo­me­ters (40 miles) south of Moose Jaw and 25 kilo­me­ters (15 miles) south­west of the Clay­bank Brick Plant Na­tional His­toric site.

The Spring Val­ley Com­mu­nity Hall Board says they are happy to bring this event to com­mu­nity mem­bers and those from sur­round­ing ar­eas. “It is the first year for the event. We are a newly elected board for the Spring Val­ley and District In­ter­pre­tive Cen­tre and Com­mu­nity Hall. This is a fundrais­ing event for the Com­mu­nity Hall. All pro­ceeds will be di­rected to win­ter main­te­nance and re­pairs for the hall,” said pres­i­dent, Pa­tri­cia McKibben. “Be­fore I be­came pres­i­dent, I had thought about do­ing an event such as this in the hall. The idea was to pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity for lo­cal men and women to show­case their arts and crafts.” The event prom­ises to be an ex­cit­ing one fea­tur­ing many artists and lo­cal bak­ers and farm­ers, a few also from Moose Jaw. It is also a chance to grab all kinds of Christ­mas gifts for fam­ily and friends!

Terry Min­ter, a Moose Jaw lo­cal wildlife pen­cil artist and also a mem­ber of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Artists will be there. He will have his prints for sale. A lo­cal farmer is go­ing to pro­vide lo­cally pro­duced honey and bak­ing. An­other lo­cal farmer is sell­ing her Fa­mous Coun­try Jelly Rolls and Cow­boy Christ­mas Wreaths. There will also be em­broi­dered bath tow­els & tea tow­els with horses/trac­tors/etc, quilted stock­ings, flax bags, messy bun hats, quilt lad­ders, cus­tom-made bed frames, quilted pil­lows, home­made Christ­mas cards, Gold Canyon Can­dles, Rus­tic Home Dé­cor and, Suc­cu­lent Plant Boxes. Per­sons can also en­joy home­made choco­lates and can­dies, Steeped Tea, Fifth Av­enue Col­lec­tion, Stella and Dot, Sig­na­ture Homestyles and Home Dé­cor. Moose Jaw busi­ness owner, Mike Thul from Pas­times An­tique Pho­tog­ra­phy and Gifts, will be set­ting up a Christ­mas tree to dis­play prod­ucts from his store for pur­chase. There is some­thing for every­one on your Christ­mas Shop­ping list! Each ven­dor is do­nat­ing a gift to­wards the Penny Pa­rade ta­ble. Lunch and tick­ets for the penny pa­rade can be pur­chased at the Hall. Chil­dren will also get to en­joy fun treats and ac­tiv­i­ties as there will be a cookie ta­ble where they can dec­o­rate cook­ies and take them home, or en­joy them with a cup of hot choco­late. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be vis­it­ing from 2:30pm4:30pm. Par­ents are en­cour­aged to bring their cam­eras and take pic­tures of their chil­dren. There will be lunch avail­able to pur­chase in­clud­ing as­sorted home­made soups, chili, home­made buns, tea, cof­fee, and ap­ple cider.

“We are hop­ing this will be­come an an­nual event and that more peo­ple will want to par­tic­i­pate in it. We en­cour­age peo­ple to con­tact us if they wish to par­tic­i­pate next year. The board is very ex­cited to host fu­ture events and hopes every­one will come out to join in the fun,” added Pat.
